Polymers in 3D Printing

This technology can print using a wide range of commercially available polymers, including acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polylactic acid (PLA), polycarbonate (PC), poly ether ester ketone (PEEK), polyetherimide (ULTEM) and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE).

In the current polymer market, there are different resins that, depending on their properties, have different applications in different sectors. The use of resin for 3D printing allows the creation of small objects with great detail.

Plastic:

Of all the different materials being utilized for 3D printing, plastic is the most common. Plastic is quite versatile—being used for everything from 3D printed household fixtures to toys. Plastic 3D printing material comes in multiple different colors and can also be transparent.

Polymers help us to save energy, with lighter vehicles and insulated buildings; package consumable goods; reduce land use and fertilisers, thanks to synthetic fibres; preserve other materials using coatings; and save lives by way of countless medical applications.
