Abstract

Suicide is a world wide problem. In America, suicide is the 10th cause of all deaths. This problem is even worse among veterans than that of general population. There are 22 veterans kill themselves every day between the year 2005 and 2011. In recent years, suicide rate decreased very little, but the percentage of younger veteran suicide went up. In this research, this researcher will try to find out how to make people feel good and free of suicide thoughts. People do not suicide for one single reason. Any adverse life event could be one of the risk factors in the breakdown of their mental well-being. The method of this research will be qualitative as it is based on previous literatures. Time, money, and fame does not heal the traumas. After the adverse life experiences, a person became someone else. Post Traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental illness. However, there are some wellness programs that help people in healing. In this research, this student will do a thorough literature review to find out the the best methods in suicide prevention. This research is about how to get people emotionally well in a long term and short term, and it can be a base structure of a plan in treating suicidal people.
