Dr. Gul Ozcan is currently a distinguished professor in the Department of Biology at the Istanbul University. Prof. ÖZCAN received her MSc. and Ph.D. degrees in Radiobiology and Health Physics Programme, from Institute of Gratuate Studies in Science and Engineering at Istanbul University in 1995 and 2001, respectively. She worked at Istanbul University for about 25 years on cancer biology and radiobiology. Presently, she is a head of molecular cancer biology and bioinformatics research laboratory. Over the past 10 years, her research has been focused on cell death mechanisms for cancer therapy, alternative death pathways, apoptosis resistance and cancer data mining. She has co-ordinated and contributed to several multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research funded by the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of Istanbul University. She is a fellow member of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), The European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), Molecular Cancer Research Association (MOKAD) and New York Academy of Sciences.
