Dr. Susan Said Alghamdi, MD, is a board-certified
obstetrician and gynecologist with subspecialty in gynecology oncology. Susan
has been working at the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at King Fahad
Specialist Hospital Dammam, located in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, since October
2013. She completed her fellowship in advanced Gynecology oncology and robotic
surgery at National University Hospital located in Singapore during the year
2017. Since then, she has been involved in treatment of women with all types of
gynecological cancers including uterine, ovarian, cervical, vaginal, and vulvar
cancers. Dr. Susan is well known for her strong belief in fighting cancer as
well as treatment of recurrent or relapsed cases in a multidisciplinary
approach. Furthermore, she possesses the appropriate knowledge and attitudes to
lead and deliver safe, high-quality care, taking account of individual needs
and advocating for women’s healthcare. Dr. Susan has a special interest in
molecular science, targeted therapy and cancer genetics. She is leading a mass
screening program at her institution targeting different types of women with
cancer among hospital staff females. She has dedicated her time to academic
teaching and currently is the residency program director at the stated hospital
teaching and supervising fellows, residents, interns and medical students. Dr.
Susan has also been a potential influence for many females in her society who
survived cancer and continued to live healthily. She addressed all aspects of
women’s health including sexual activity and functional complications related
to cancer treatment. She had many lectures and awareness campaigns regarding
women health which addressed the secrets and myths of women’s health and body.
For instance, she led the first gynecological cancer awareness campaign in
Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. Moreover, she was involved in published
cancer treatment guidelines and research that addressed the effects of COVID-19
pandemic on cancer treatment.
