Dr. Frederik de Lange is a cardiologist with
special interests in cardiac devices and diagnosing / treating patients with
syncope. After his PhD in normal molecular development of the cardiac
conducting system, he did his specialization cardiology in the Academic Medical
Center in Amsterdam with special interest in cardiac devices and syncope. At the
moment he runs the Syncope Unit in the Amsterdam University Medical Center; a
tertiary outpatient clinic facility which is part of the cardiology department
and he heads the outpatient cardiology department. He was involved as a
Taskforce member writing the new 2018 ESC Guidelines on Syncope. His main
research project is focused on analyzing diagnostic yield and accuracy of
tertiary Syncope Units in academic centers.
