Biography

Pilar López Cornejo is Full Professor in Physical Chemistry at the University of Seville (Spain). Her research group works in the preparation of nanocarriers, based on calixarenes, lipids, and polymers, for nucleic acids and antineoplastic drugs. Particular achievements in the last 10 years include: the development of a formulation, based on Brönsted equation, to explain the kinetic effects of restricted geometry medium on chemical or photochemical processes; the use of kinetic studies as a tool to investigate conformational changes in DNA; the synthesis of lipids derived from [Ru(bpy)3]2+ to be used as building blocks in the construction of supramolecular systems, shedding light on the driving forces acting in the surfactant/SWCNT interactions; the design of drug nanocarriers decreasing their side effects; and others.
