HIV and Cancer

People infected with HIV have a higher risk of some types of cancer compared with uninfected people of the same age. Detecting and treating HIV early also significantly reduces a person's risk of developing cancers such as Kaposi's sarcoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.Cancer treatment for people with HIV has improved due to advances in HIV treatment. Healthcare providers were less likely to give full doses of chemotherapy or radiation therapy due to the effects of these treatments on the immune system.
