Abstract

As we advance into a world increasingly shaped by technology, artificial intelligence (AI) presents both unprecedented opportunities and complex challenges in the quest for gender equality. While AI has the potential to empower women and amplify their voices in traditionally male-dominated fields, it also risks perpetuating and even reinforcing existing gender biases when left unchecked. In this keynote session, we will explore the concept of the "digital glass ceiling"—an invisible barrier created by algorithmic biases and lack of diversity in tech development—that limits opportunities for women and deepens inequality in the digital era.

This speech will focus on three critical areas:

Understanding Algorithmic Bias: We will demystify how biases enter AI systems through data and design, examining real-world examples where women have been adversely affected by algorithmic decisions in hiring, finance, and criminal justice.

Harnessing AI for Gender Equity: Highlighting AI-driven initiatives designed to level the playing field, we will discuss how inclusive algorithms, diverse data sets, and equitable AI policies can actively dismantle digital barriers for women, opening doors to new leadership roles and career paths.

The Future of Work and Women’s Leadership: Finally, we’ll look at how AI can redefine work environments to support flexible, skill-based, and inclusive opportunities, enabling women to thrive in high-impact positions across various industries.
