Dementia

Dementia is a general term used to describe a group of brain disorders that affect memory, thinking, behavior, and the ability to perform everyday activities. It is not a normal part of aging, though it is more common in older adults.

The most well-known type of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease, but there are others like vascular dementia and Lewy body dementia.

Symptoms may include:

  • Memory loss
  • Confusion
  • Difficulty speaking or understanding
  • Changes in mood or personality
