Title: Improved Photocatalytic performance of WO3/Ag/BiVO toward the degradation of methylene blue

Biography

Abstract

The photocatalytic removal of organic pollutants from the waste water is an economic and ecofriendly technique. So, in this work we have successfully synthesized BiVO4/Ag/WO3 (ABW) nanocomposite photocatalysts which is highly efficient towards the photocatalytic removal of Methylene blue (MB) dye. The synthesized photocatalysts was characterized by BT-XRD, TEM, FESEM and UV-DRS techniques. The photocatalytic degradation of MB over the surfaces of the samples was carried out under illumination of LED light. In our study we have found that WO3/Ag/BiVO4 nanocomposite is the most effective photocatalyst as it removes almost 99% of the dye in 150 min which is much greater than that removes either by the pure WO3, BiVO4 or Ag/WO3 samples. The reason of the improved activity of WO3/Ag/BiVO4 nanocomposites may be attributed due to the restrained rate of charge recombination and improved redox potential of the nanocomposite.
