Title: A multidisciplinary approach in the successful identification of novel carbapenemase inhibitors
Donatella Tondi is a University Researcher for the SSD CHIM / 08 at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia since 2001 where he deals with the Structure Based Drug Design and development of active inhibitors towards proteins involved in the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance. The target of the studies are in particular the b-Lactamases, bacterial enzymes involved in the inactivation of b-lactam antibiotics and the SOS response, a DNA repair system that allows bacteria to survive under stress and develop antimicrobial resistance.
Dr. Tondi was responsible for the years 2000 and 2001 of the MURST funding "Project young researchers" and for the years 2014-2016 and 2017-2018 of two University Funding for Research.
Drug design, synthesis and x-ray crystallography of small molecules acting as novel inhibitors of carbapenemases.
