Telecardiology In Action: How Remote Ecg Interpretation Is Transforming Cardiovascular Care — A Technician’s Perspective
The growing demand for more accurate cardiovascular diagnoses has enhanced the use of telecardiology as a key diagnostic tool. This work aims to highlight the impact of remote interpretation of electrocardiographic recordings of prolonged duration on the early diagnosis of complex arrhythmias, from the perspective of a technician specialized in cardiac monitoring.
To support this approach, real clinical cases were selected in which complex cardiac arrhythmias and electrocardiographic abnormalities were detected—findings that had not previously been identified through traditional short-term studies (24–48 hour Holter monitoring).
This diagnostic impact was achieved through the implementation of continuous remote cardiac monitoring using mobile cardiac telemetry technology, with durations exceeding 72 hours, in patients monitored nationally and internationally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, through platforms belonging to renowned institutions such as the Cardiovascular Institute of Buenos Aires (ICBA) and Biotricity – USA.
The process included specialized technical analysis in real time, with timely interventions and coordinated work alongside the responsible medical team, which allowed for optimization of cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment in complex clinical settings.
This study demonstrates how telecardiology, when performed by trained technicians, can become a fundamental tool within the diagnostic process, especially when integrated into an interdisciplinary team. Additionally, it highlights the importance of the human component in remote work, showing how technical ECG interpretation performed from another country can have a direct and positive impact on global cardiovascular health.
