Title: Enhancement of corrosion resistance and antibacterial properties of PEO coated AZ91D Mg alloy by copper and phosphate based sealing treatment
Kun Qian, was born in China in 1994. From 2019 to now, he is studying as a PhD student at Southeast University. His PhD research topic is: Preparation methods and properties of antibacterial biological functional coatings on magnesium surface.
It is difficult to prepare a dense coating with both good corrosion resistance and antibacterial properties on the surface of Mg alloy using conventional surface treatment methods. In this study, we have used a composite solution containing Cu2+ and phosphate to seal the PEO coating on the surface of AZ91D Mg alloy. After the treatment, a thick and dense deposition layer can be formed on the surface of Mg alloy, which significantly improves the corrosion resistance of the coated alloy. At the same time, the release of Cu2+ effectively inhibits bacterial activity and proliferation, conferring excellent antibacterial properties on the Mg surface. The chemical and physical models for the above sealing reaction and corrosion process were also established, which provide the theoretical basis for future studies.
