Gabriele Saretzki (PhD) is a cellular biology working in the
areas of telomeres, telomerase, cellular senescence, ageing, mitochondria and
oxidative stress. She was instrumental in establishing telomeres as a biomarker
of oxidative stress and senescence/ageing. She has published around 77 papers
to date and has focussed her research recently on the non-canonical functions
of the telomerase protein TERT (telomerase reverse transcriptase) in
mitochondria and the brain during ageing and in neurodegenerative diseases.
