Title: Preclinical investigation of stroke: from neuroprotection to pain relief
I am a Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. After obtaining my Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University “La Sapienza” Rome, I moved to the University of Arizona before joining the University of Sheffield with a Marie Curie Fellowship initially. I have a long standing interest investigating the neurobiology of neurological and neurodegenerative disease, with a particular emphasis in mechanisms that drive chronic pain conditions in stroke and migraine headache pain. By using several behavioural, neurochemical, imaging and electrophysiological measurements, my research is aimed to identify altered activity in the central nervous system in preclinical models of chronic pain disorders.
