Title: Practicing Self-Acceptance, Self-Care, and Resilience in Healthcare
Biography
Abstract
As healthcare providers, we focus on
being healers and caregivers to others that we often forget to take care of
ourselves, understand our limitations, fail to create a balanced life, and fall
prey to burnout. Throughout this workshop, we are going to focus on three main
areas of our lives:
- Self-acceptance: Understanding and
knowing when we have done enough for our patients/clients. We accept our
limitations, check our savior complex, and fully embrace our skills, strengths,
and weaknesses.
- Self-Care: We will assess our self-care
practices and create a basic and straightforward self-care practice to take
care of ourselves on and off the time clock. We will also create a work-life
balance plan, understanding it is okay to say No and forgive.
- Resilience: We all
have the bounce back magic, aka resilience, to get through the difficulties of
life, loss, and hardships. We will examine what resiliency is, why it is important
to tap into it when you done everything you’ve done professionally and
personally, and how to recover from life difficulties.
