Biography

Dr. Iftimia is an experienced area manager/program director at Physical Sciences Inc, Andover, MA. His technical expertise is in optical imaging and spectroscopy techniques, with the focus on hardware development, image analytics, and machine learning. He is he author of over 120 peer-review publications, several book chapters, and the main editor of a book. He pioneered work in biopsy guidance using OCT. In recognition to my contribution to the biomedical optics field, I was elected as OSA fellow in 2017, while in 2021 I was elected SPIE fellow for my contributions in advancing multimodal optical imaging of skin cancer lesions towards routine clinical use.
