Title: Rydverg Levels EIA AS Quantum Detector of Mw and THz Signals
Prof Reuben Shuker is a distinguished physicist with a profound expertise in Quantum Optics, Quantum Magnetometry, Remote Sensing, and Raman Scattering. He currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Physics at Ben Gurion University, located in Beer-Sheva, Israel. He completed his PhD in Physics at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, USA, in 1971. Since then, he has been actively involved in groundbreaking research that has significantly contributed to advancements in his fields of interest.
Rydberg states are special in the sense that have a long lifetimes and large dipole moments. The spacing among these levels are in the MW and THz frequencies. Electromagnetic Induced Absorption (EIA) and Transparency (EIT)can be achieved in these levels . MW and THz signals can quantum mechanically split the relevant spectral lines , in which the splitting is proportional to the field the strength of an incoming em Field. We show theoretically that measurement of the the spacing between two spectral lines in the experimental spectrum reveals not only the intensity of the incident signal, but can also renders its frequency.
