Title: Miniaturized Fiber-optic Endoscopes Using Metasurface Optics: A Simulation-driven Design Approach
Charles Taylor is an Application Engineer at Ozen Engineering,
Inc., specializing in optical and opto- mechanical engineering. He provides consulting, mentoring, and technical
support for optical simulations using Ansys software. Charles earned his B.S. in Physics and Applied Mathematics from Western Michigan
University, graduating top of his class with the Presidential Scholar Award. As
an undergraduate, he conducted research at the Tandem Van De Graaff accelerator
on radiative double electron capture and exotic x-ray photons. He later pursued
graduate studies in Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona, focusing
on improving large space telescope mirror designs to reduce PSF artifacts
from spiders and segmentation, such as
in JWST. Charles has served
as Lead Optical Engineer on various
government directed energy programs, developing high-energy laser weapon
systems. He also productized a novel interferometric 3D imaging technology for handheld holographic diagnostics, used in advanced aircraft maintenance.
