Gyula Polónyi received his M.S.
and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Pécs, Hungary, in 2012 and
2018, respectively. Since 2018, he has been a Research Scientist with the
HUN-REN – PTE High-Field Terahertz Research Group. In 2021, he became the supervisor
of the High-Field Terahertz Laboratory at the Szentágothai János Research
Centre in Pécs, Hungary. Since 2022, he has served as an Assistant Editor for
the Journal of the Optical Society of America B.
Dr. Polónyi was awarded the Ferenczi György
Memorial Award in 2018 for outstanding international-level achievements in the
theoretical and experimental research and practical application of
semiconductors. In 2024, he received the Doctoral Talent Award from the
Hungarian Innovation Center (Nanjing, China) for research with strong potential
for international collaboration and participation. His research interest
includes nonlinear optics, THz spectroscopy, semiconductor- and organic based
high-field THz sources and their biological applications.
